Churches Sharing Christ in Brazoria County

Disaster Relief Team

C. D. Christian has recently returned from a mudout operation in East Texas. The mudout trailer was dispatched to San Augustine where, in a week and a half, 43 homes were cleaned out and prepared for remodeling. Many people were ministered to during this time. You can be a part of the disaster relief team. Contact the GCBA office if you are interested. --  April 17, 2008

Darrell Newton, Donald Hintze, C.D. Christian and George Phillips accept a $500 donation for the Disaster Relief Team from employees of Walmart in West Columbia.

GCBA began developing its Disaster Relief Team in June 2004, with Orientation/training for 15 potential volunteers. In July 2004, twelve volunteers completed basic "Yellow Cap" training.

In July, GCBA received the gift of a 20' x 8' trailer donated by the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention (value $6500). The intent is to prepare a Clean-out/Mud-out trailer with various kinds of equipment to enable the cleanout of houses and churches that have been flooded.

On August 28, eight people gathered to begin equipping the trailer and preparing it for operation. It is anticipated that the team will be fully trained and the trailer prepared and equipped by January 1,2005. A list of needed equipment is posted with this information.

On Saturday, September 18, there will be basic "Yellow Cap" training for new volunteers at FBC Richmond. The session will begin at 9:30 AM and be complete before noon. There will be no charge for this training. Call GCBA for additional information.
